Reading Homework Expectations

What can I read?

Any chapter book you wish, provided that it is at your "just-right" level. Magazines, newspapers, books of lists, manuals, comic books, etc. don’t have the big chunks of text you need to develop fluency, and they won’t help you discover who you are as a reader of literature.

How much do I need to read?

You need to read every week, but you can determine how to divide up the time. For an A, you need to read AT LEAST 360 minutes a week. For a B, you need to read AT LEAST 320 minutes a week. For a C, you need to read AT LEAST 280 minutes a week. The time that you read IN CLASS is counted toward your total minutes read per week.

*The minutes you are expected to read will not increase during the year.
